After doing going to the open mics for a couple of weeks now I’ve realized that I would rather attend an open mic than watch reality television. Of course I’d rather rip my nails off at the roots than watch reality television.  I do support the writers in the strike but I’ve noticed more and more attendance at the open mic’s.  

Maybe that’s just a New Years Resolution thing more than anything but there’s always hope.  There is a great deal more ‘humanity’ in watching open mic nights.   You can watch someone just wither and crawl up their own butt hole or watch a performers face light up when they get a genuine laugh and have that moment with an audience where it just clicks.  The latter is a priceless moment and the former is a far more painful to watch than Celebrity weight loss/ apprentice/ housemates/ whatever crappola.  I think what happened before when I did a night (see Jan 11 blog) is I missed the click.
